Our new CELSIUS workstations reach new heights of security and performance

It’s a very exciting time for us here at FUJITSU as we’ve just introduced four new CELSIUS workstations, engineered and made in Germany.

But these are no ordinary machines. The CELSIUS H780 and CELSIUS H980 mobile workstations and the CELSIUS W580/W580power+ and CELSIUS J580 desktop workstations not only offer a step change in terms of performance, but exceedingly robust security options.

Biometrics built-in – high security by default

With cybercrime on the rise and organizations facing stiff penalties for data breaches, we’ve decided to add an additional layer of security to our workstations to help ensure confidential data doesn’t get into the wrong hands. Our unique FUJITSU PalmSecure biometric authentication technology scans the complex vein patterns in the palm of a hand to authenticate users.

Forget about insecure passwords or the inconvenience of iris scanning; with PalmSecure you simply hover your hand over the sensor for instant authentication.

PalmSecure is not only easy to use, it’s by far the most accurate biometric authentication solution on the market today – 100 times more exact than fingerprint identification to be precise. With each individual’s palm scan comprising more than 5 million reference points, this is hardly surprising.

PalmSecure is built into our new CELSIUS H780 and H980 mobile workstations courtesy of a tiny sensor to the right of the keyboard. The contact free technology is also available in a special keyboard for our desktop workstations, so your data can be just as secure in the office as it is on the road.

Workstation performance to accommodate the most demanding tasks

This level of security is essential in the modern age, but our new workstations also take a giant leap forward in terms of performance.

The VR-Ready CELSIUS H780 and CELSIUS H980, for example, are our first mobile workstations to feature Intel hexacore Xeon processors, which can do wonders for the productivity of designers, engineers, architects, and digital artists. Ray trace rendering, for instance, is significantly faster on our new mobile workstations compared to our previous generation, which only featured quad core processors.

Our 21-litre microtower, the CELSIUS W580/W580power+, and our even smaller 10 litre CELSIUS J580 Small Form Factor (SFF) workstations also take the leap from four to six cores without compromising performance in applications that can only take advantage of a single CPU core.

But the performance of our workstations is not limited to CPU advancements. With the advent of the new NVIDIA Quadro P3200 GPU and our advanced CELSIUS H780, we can now offer a 15.6-inch VR-Ready mobile workstation for the first time. Previously, if you wanted to take your designs into virtual reality you needed a 17-3-inch mobile workstation, so our customers are excited by this new blend of performance and portability.

We’ve also pushed the boundaries in our 17-3-inch mobile workstation. With the incredibly powerful NVIDIA Quadro P5200 the CELSIUS H980 can now handle even more complex 3D datasets, immersive VR experiences or GPU renders.

On the desktop, our tiny CELSIUS J580 SFF workstation offers industry-leading graphics performance with the NVIDIA Quadro P2000. This powerful mid-range GPU, optimised for advanced 3D CAD, is simply not available in SFF workstations from other major OEMs.

We haven’t forgotten about our high-end workstations. Earlier this year we added the phenomenally powerful NVIDIA Quadro GV100 GPU to our CELSIUS M770 and CELSIUS R970. The Volta-based GPU opens up a whole world of new possibilities for designers, engineers and scientists, with its ability to dramatically accelerate applications in deep learning.

In ray trace rendering, for example, the GPU’s dedicated Tensor cores can use deep learning to dramatically cut render times by predicting what a final render will look like rather than having to wait for thousands of rays of light to bounce around a scene. Other applications include generative design and the ability to conduct complex simulations faster, not forgetting incredible all-round performance for more traditional 3D graphics and VR workflows.

Most excitingly, two of these 32GB GPUs can be combined together in a single workstation using NVIDIA NVLink technology, which scales up the memory to 64GB. It’s a phenomenal capacity to handle colossal datasets and support our most demanding customers as they explore a new era of GPU accelerated computing.
