Starting out in a new country can be tough! On top of that, migrants and refugees experiencing language and cultural knowledge gaps may often feel overwhelmed and isolated.

Our customer, TAFE Queensland, provides integral language, literacy, numeracy and cultural education to migrants and refugees through the Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP). The program, which is funded by the Australian Government Department of Home Affairs, assists migrants and refugees to live, work and complete further study in Australia with confidence.

A part of the AMEP includes opportunities to gain practical work experience so that migrants and refugees can obtain the skills needed for gainful employment. Fujitsu is proud to have partnered with TAFE Queensland to provide three students with 120 hours of hands on, on-site, IT work placements.

Fujitsu’s onsite desktop support technicians hosted the students at the Mount Gravatt, Loganlea and Acacia Ridge campuses. A special thank you to the Fujitsu buddies - Alipt Padia, Reden Morales and Sanjeev Kumar - for their significant investment of time and energy supporting the students.

The students were given the opportunity to shadow and assist our onsite team in the support of TAFE Queensland’s EUC devices and applications, including:

  • Diagnosing, and fixing, hardware and software issues
  • Device refreshes – installing operating environments and applications
  • Desk side support for TAFE Queensland VIP Staff
  • Supporting 2nd level technicians diagnosing faults, in support of high priority incidents

TAFE Queensland’s Delivery Support Officer, Raheema Deen, said

I want to convey my gratitude for your supervision and guidance during Dani's Work Experience Placement at the Fujitsu Site, Acacia Ridge. Dani's experience was invaluable, and he has gained further insight into the Information Technology industry. He enjoyed working and collaborating with such a fantastic staff. I appreciate every endeavour you all have provided to support our students' ongoing development.

Fujitsu looks forward to continuing this partnership with TAFE Queensland, positively contributing to an equitable and inclusive community.
